Pamporovo, Ski Bulgaria

 Pamporovo, the pearl of Bulgarian mountain tourism, is the sunniest high mountain resort in Bulgaria. It is located in the heart of Rhodope Mountains, 260 kilometers away from Sofia, the distance to Plovdiv is 85 kilometers to the north and Smolyan is only 15 kilometres away. The resort enjoys more than 240 sunny days a year. Its climate is mild and the influence of the Mediterranean is perceptible. The average annual temperature here is 8.5 degree C and its blanket of snow in winter is between 140 and 150 cm.
Snow stays between 150 and 200 days a year and makes Pamporovo into paradise for all ski and snowboard maniacs. They can enjoy 17.5 kilometers of Alpine ski runs with different degrees of difficulty, 34 ski runs for long distance skiing, equipped with 6 different seat chair lifts and 13 ski drags with a total capacity of 9,500 people per hour. The central part of the resort is 1,650 m above sea level and the nearest peak Snezhanka is 1,926 metres high.
Pamporovo has no avalanches and no sharp changes in the weather and this guarantees its guests safe and pleasant holidays. Apres Ski
Good accommodation options and excellent facilities will help to make your stay at Pamporovo ski resort a memorable one. Good quality high-end hotels are located here. A free shuttle bus is also available to take you from your hotel to the slopes. There is a shopping area in the village (near the Perelik and Murgavets hotels) containing mainly boutiques, sports shops and souvenir outlets.
Other activities and facilities at Pamporovo resort include: toboggan rides (near the Malina Holiday Village), bowling and archery (in Murgavets Hotel), an indoor swimming pool, sauna and a fitness centre (in Perelik Hotel).

Ski runs
Beginners
Beginners start with the ski school of Pamporovo, which is quite famous with the quality tuition. Starting on the nursery slopes, after few days they will be able to ski on the higher ski runs.
Intermediate:
The total length of ski runs which are suitable for Intermedaites is approx. 20 km. These skiers can jump on the triple chairlift from the Malina station going to the top of Snejanka peak. Or, a single chair lift goes to the middle station, from where the new four persons lift runs up to the peak.
Advanced:
One can jump on the drag lift from the middle station which runs up the side of "The Wall". It is the most difficult ski run in the resort. The other difficult piste starts from the TV tower, after the last station of the triple chair, go right, pistes called Snejanka.
Snowboarding
There is no commitment to a regular terrain park or similar by Pamporovo, but rentals and tuition are available and the wide open runs are good for cruising. The low prices also tend to create a boarder friendly atmosphere on and off the slopes.
